"How's it going chief?"?

I have so many guy friends who greet me like this. I live in Australia and i know how Aussies are known for colloquial wordplay/slang etc. but there's just something i hate about it. When they say it it's almost in a condescending tone. Also when a guy approaches me for a "bro hug"... that also pisses me off. Anyone else experience this?
