I want to dye my hair dark red?

sooo i want to dye my hair dark red. i would like to use a semi permanent dye. I heard manic panic is a good brand for that. My hair is really dark brown (almost black) would it still show up? [ and no im not bleaching my hair] also my hair is chemically straightened. i dont want my hair to fall out, is it still safe? thankksss! <33
