Graphic Design Ideas?

I'm currently starting my A-level Graphics and am clueless of what to do for a product or idea. I have been told that we should get a third-party response so whatever I do I should be able to visit the customer or place. I have also been told that for Graphics we should make a product the 'doesn't work' as in is scaled down or not made out of the correct materials. Somethings I don't want to do are: Food/drink packaging or architecture pieces (If you have any of these two please suggest them because it could bring some inspiration!). I really want to do something fun and that will inspire me so any help would be much appreciated (Also I am thinking of taking Product Design at uni so I need a project that will impress!) Thanks :)
