Did i Start my period or is something wrong?

Okay so yesterday around 5 pm i went to the bathroom and when i wiped i saw brown discharge. so i was thinking did i start my period? i didnt tell my mom about it yet. then an hour or so later i went to the bathroom again to see if i still had it and it had a little bit of red in the brown discharge so then i told my mom and she was like OMG REALLY!! yay! welcome to motherhood. but heres the thing i havent seen anymore blood/brown discharge since yesterday im back to my normal mucusy discharge.? is this normal idk if this was my actual period or somethings wrong please help? im only 13 i dont know alot about this
